Winning Mom:
Patrica Fritz
of Pigeon

Nominated by: Amanda Fritz

About Mom: My mother has raised three girls all on her own. My father was an alcoholic and very abusive to all of us. She moved all of us to Michigan from Iowa in 1993. She had to leave her friends and life that she had known for many years but she did it to keep us safe. To top it off my older sister is mentally handicap. She has autism, epilepsy, and mental retardation. To date my sister is 26 going to be 27 in June, but she has the brain capacity of a 2-4 year old. My mother is still bathing, feeding, and wiping her 26 year old daughter and will be until she can no longer do it due to age. My younger sister has had two heart surgeries and my mother had to be strong while watching her baby have to have major surgery twice and still not have the doctor's be able to fix the problem. My mother has always put her children before herself. She has gone without so that we could have nice things in our life. She is a positive role model teaching us to be kind and compassionate to every person we meet because we never know what they have been through in their lives. We were taught to not judge and to be accepting of others. My mother has worked very hard for everything that she has, which may not be a lot but she tells us every day that she is blessed to have every little thing she has. My mother would give her last dollar to someone if they said they needed it. She has raised her children to be responsible and respectable. I am beyond proud to say she is my mother. She is a best friend, a confidant, a life-saver, and best of all, my mother.

Winning Mom:
Inez Joyce Stanley
of Lapeer

Nominated by:
Susan Eager

About Mom: My mother is the best mother ever. When I was a kid she would always be there when I got home from school with homemade sweets and milk to discuss the day. When she was little she came home to an empty house her mom had to work when she was five and up. So she always said she would never make her children come home to an empty house. She always was a stay at home mom. She said it was the most important job in the world, you just aren't paid money to do it. Instead you are paid by kisses and hugs. She has taught me how by example to be a real mother although I don't think I could ever exceed her gentle ,loving thoughful way she lives and breathes. She has always looked for only the good in all people. She has incredible morals, even a white lie is a lie to her. When times are hard she may bring groceries to lend a hand or babysit even when she was tired. My father has a heart problem and has had a bad heart attack in June of last year with 15% of his heart working now. She is ready to do anything to help and take care of his chores and nurse him back on his feet. Then in November she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer she had two lumpectomies and a total masectomy in December just four days before Christmas. My oldest daughter said mom Grandma is the center of our entire family she is the glue to everything good. She has been going threw chemotherapy since. My seven year old was trying to understand what is happening to Grandma we explained she will probably lose her hair to prepare her and she offered Grandma her play wig to make her feel better. Because Grandma has taught her to be so caring for others. She is the strongest person I have ever known, she is so caring and giving even when she is feeling weak she is so concerned with how others are. On a day recently when she was feeling bads from the chemo as she has good days and bad this was a bad day for her, she offered to give me a back rub when I mentioned my neck was bothering me. She is the best person I know or will ever met and why she must go threw this I will never understand but that is why my mom is the best mom ever.

Winning Mom:
Debra Ogles
of Flushing

Nominated by:
Kendra Ogles

About Mom: My mom is one of Mid-Michigan's Best Moms for too many reasons to list, but if I had to try... She is kind, caring, empathetic, loving, generous, and many more wonderful adjectives. She gives so much of herself without expecting anything in return. She takes care of her family (both members by birth and those adopted in) with no reservations. She lost her mother last year around this time; she was the great matriarch of our family. Despite the tremendous sense of loss my mother felt (and still feels) she has risen up to take her place as the new matriarch without even realizing it. Everyone in our family (immediate and distant) loves her. We respect her opinion and feelings (even if we might not show it all the time) and we wouldn't be the same family without her. "There'll never be another to me like that wonderful mother of mine." :D

Winning Mom:
Luanne Reinhart
of Clio

Nominated by:
Rebecca Brooks

About Mom: My Mom-The Greatest Woman Ever My mom is Luanne Reinhart. She is the best mom and person ever. She is loving, caring, funny, wonderful, and will do anything for anybody. I am 23 years old and married. My sister is 19 years old and is a college sophomore. Even though neither one of us are at home, she makes sure that we are well taken care of. She is always calling to check up on us to make sure we are okay and every weekend she wants to spend time with us. She loves us for who we are and she is extremely proud of both of us. My mom is our number one supporter. Throughout our lives, my sister and I have participated in hundreds of athletic events. Our mom never missed one. She was always there cheering us on in everything that we did no matter what she had to do to get there. Still today she cheers us on in our athletics, jobs, academics, and our lives. She is the best. My mom and my dad celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on February 12, 2008. They are still deeply in love. We threw them a reception and this forced my mom to buy herself a new outfit. You see, my mom never spends any money on herself. She is always buying stuff for other people. My mom has lost over 50 pounds now and she continues to wear the larger clothes. It took a good talking to my mom, to get her to buy an outfit that would actually fit her for her party. My mom has very little self-confidence in the way she looks. We have very few pictures of my mom because she sees a camera and she runs from it because she always hates pictures of herself. For my wedding day, my mom was in very few pictures because of this and I know that she took the ones she did for me. Now that she is feeling good about losing weight and realizes that many people love her, she needs to have a day just for herself. I want her to realize that she is gorgeous in every picture that she is in. Last week my family also suffered a great loss. On April 23rd my grandpa passed away unexpectantly. This was my mom’s dad. He was sick for a week before he passed. My grandpa and grandma live 3 hours away in Ludington. My mom spent a couple days with my grandpa, then would come home and take care of the family, and then she went back to Ludington to spend time with my grandpa. Unfortunately, the day he passed away, my mom was at home with us. She was always thinking about us. Her family means the world to her and I know her heart is broken with her father gone. Mother’s Day will be hard this year because my mom will go visit my grandma and my grandpa won’t be there to give her a huge hug and kiss. My mom is the best and I just want her to have a terrific Mother’s Day. So I really think that a day for herself will make her realize just how special she is. My mom is gorgeous and she doesn’t look her age at all, but my mom does not realize this. My mom deserves to have something special done for her since she spends all of her time making sure something special happens for everyone else. My mom is always so busying worrying about other people and her family, that she doesn’t take the time or money for herself. Since I have been around, my mom has never had a massage, facial, pedicure, manicure, facial wax, or her makeup done, but she has given my sister and myself money to get some of these things done for us. Now I want to give her these things. Please let my mom have a day where she is the queen because she is truly a queen to me. I love my mom dearly and I want her to feel the way she makes me feel when she does something special for me. I want my mom to start feeling wonderful about herself and I really think that a day just for her will make her feel this way. Please pick my mom and make her feel special. She is very special to us! We love her dearly!
